Sited on a historic battlefield, the first ski-jumping competition held here was in 1927. Reconstructed several times, the Bergisel jumping stadium is one of the landmarks of Innsbruck. Now used as part of the international Four-Hill Ski-Jumping competition and for events such as open air concerts and papal visits, the stadium also features a viewing platform with 360° panoramic views over the Inn Valley, Alps and the city. The top can be reached via 455 steps or the more comfortable and faster funicular railway. Look down from the and imagine the courage needed to launch yourself off the top!
