Chambal Ravines – Dholpur, Rajasthan

Dholpur is a city in eastern-most parts of the Rajasthan state of India. It is the administrative headquarters of Dholpur District and was formerly seat of the Dholpur princely state, before Independence. The Chambal ravine or 'beehad' in Dholpur has harboured dacoits (bandits) for centuries. In modern times, due to the old legends and rugged terrain, the labyrinthian ravines along the river were hiding places to gangs of bandits led by colourful figures like Man Singh, Daku Madho Singh , Paan Singh Tomar and Phoolan Devi.
