Built in 1862, this family-run, cliff-top hotel, accessible by railway car, is a minute's walk from Schafberg mountain and 9 km from the Gut Aich Priory Benedictine monastery.  Featuring panoramic valley views, the snug rooms have streamlined wood decor and subdued tones. Kids 5 and younger are welcome without charge. Train tickets are free, and so is a breakfast buffet, which is served in a formal restaurant with elegant wood decor and sweeping mountain views.
