Spiez Castle – Thun, Switzerland

This medieval fortress has served as a residential castle for several families. Every family reconstructed the building partially, resulting in a well preserved overview of the transformations that the castle went through in history. Several rooms can be seen in their original Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque style. The interior is mostly still present. The castle is owned by the Stiftung Schloss Spiez (Spiez Castle Foundation) since 1929, that maintains the building and makes it available for temporary exhibitions and concerts.
